Dr. Webb

From Split LongWays

Played by: Nobody (he is dead before the story begins and never speaks)

First appeared in: Deadlight

The grandfather of Amelia Webb, a doctor who lives in a dark single-storey colonial cottage with a barn up the hill road from the Orchard Run Gas and Cafe. He is never seen alive. In 202: The Good Doctor, Billy McConnell and Tallahassee Turner find an old man with a trimmed beard, who matches the family photographs in the hallway, dead against a chair in the front sitting room, bleeding from the shoulder as if from a shotgun blast.

Nearby lie the body of a young man in a burlap sack (Clem Taylor, according to his ID) and an open, lead-lined silver coffer sealed with wax. The study holds his diplomas, a copy of Tallahassee's book, a locked roll-top desk with cash, a bank account book, a pot of strange-smelling ointment, and a black leather journal. The journal describes a doctor who inherited a practice from Dr. Sanger and became uneasy about its discreet "special services" for troubled women. It is not certain that Dr. Webb wrote it.

In 204: Night of the Living Dead Light his journal is read aloud at the cafe, with an entry dated March 22nd, 1888 that describes the ritual for the silver coffer and the entity inside.

In 205: Lights Out the group tells Mary that he is dead, and the ritual in his journal is used to draw the dead light into the silver coffer.
