A veteran who served in the Great War with Major Bakersfield.
Grant Jameson is an old army friend of Major Bakersfield. The two served in the military together before the Great War and then in the war itself. He owns a small cabin on the outskirts of New Salem, Massachusetts, and the Keeper describes him as a bit of a loner who is something of a shut-in these days.
In 301: No Rest for the Wicked the investigators stop at his cabin for the night on their way to New Salem. Around noon the next day he wakes Tallahassee Turner from a bad dream. When Tallahassee says he only sweats because he is manly, Jameson says he gets the same night sweats from the Great War. He says he could not have served under Major Aloysius Bakersfield without learning to always keep extra bullets and nets around, and he offers to help the group gear up. The investigators decide not to drag him into what is going on. He gives them directions south past the Leighton farm to New Salem and remarks that they all look terrible.
He tells them he only goes to New Salem for supplies and avoids it as much as he can. He calls it a bad place where people are not friendly and do not like outsiders. He recommends Ezra Denny, owner of the local tavern, warns them to avoid a local troublemaker named Ike Watson, and tells them to be careful at night because he thinks he has heard bears in the woods lately.
In 302: The Huggening Billy mentions him to Ezra Denny, who calls him "a good guy."
In 303: The Grand Slam Ezra Denny calls him a good guy who comes into the tavern to tell his old war stories, and Billy recalls his warning to stay indoors after dark.
In 310: Salem's Lot Major Bakersfield remembers that Jameson is holed up in a cabin about an hour north of the campsite that was attacked, and leaves New Jerusalem at dusk to bring him back.
In 311: Beefing the Defenses Major Bakersfield reaches Jameson's cabin deep in the unnaturally dark woods and finds lights on inside as creatures close in.
In 312: Edge of Sharkness he lets Major Bakersfield into his fortified cabin and agrees to follow him into battle one more time. Trapped by three creatures, he fends off a clawing arm with his rifle while Bakersfield kills its owner.
In 313: The Arrival he drops the lit stick of dynamite that Major Bakersfield gives him during their dash to the car. The blast injures both men, and after the last creatures are dead, Jameson rides the Major's summoned steed back toward New Jerusalem with him.
In 316: The Last Stand he finishes off the creature pinned under Tallahassee Turner's saber with his rifle and joins the group's last stand.
