First appeared in: 302: The Huggening
The mayor of New Jerusalem, a well-dressed man in a light tan suit who talks up the struggling town as "a slice of heaven." He claims to have read Tallahassee's books and to have served in the war, though he is vague about his rank.
In 302: The Huggening he breaks up the confrontation between the investigators and Ike Watson and Levi outside the general store. He discourages Tallahassee from interviewing Mordecai Shep, offering to help with a write-up of the town instead. Dr. Simeon senses he is hiding something, and he seems less than truthful when Billy asks about the truck at the abandoned campsite. He points the group to the newspaper office and Denny's Tavern and mentions Constable Dawkins next door.
In 303: The Grand Slam Ezra Denny describes him as chummy with the new constable, and the investigators begin to suspect the mayor, the constable, or both. In 307: Smooth Criminal and 308: Infestation the group debates confronting him, and Goodman Gray claims to know him only in passing.
In 309: Boom Goes the Dynamite he comes out of the town hall when the investigators dump a dead infant creature in the square, and is genuinely shocked. Told the horde is coming, he goes pale, says none of this was supposed to happen and that "they" had assured him it would not reach the town, and sends Constable Dawkins to fetch Gray. Under threats from Major Bakersfield, who draws Old Reliable and then lights a stick of dynamite, he confesses that a powerful man paid him to keep an eye on Corbitt and Mordecai Shep and to help Gray, with promises of advancement in Arkham. Before he can name his patron, Gray arrives and freezes him in place with a single word: "stop."
In 310: Salem's Lot he admits that he knew Corbitt and Mordecai Shep had a place they worked out of, but says he never learned where it was. He spends the evening in a corner of Denny's, watched by Goodman Gray's drivers.
In 311: Beefing the Defenses Goodman Gray and Constable Zeke Dawkins plot to get rid of him. Dr. Simeon compels him with a spell to reveal who paid him to watch Corbitt and Mordecai Shep, and he names Mayor Sidel of Arkham.
In 314: The Siege the defenders of Denny's Tavern realize that nobody has seen the mayor in some time.
In 401: Static Prevails the Keeper says that his remains were found among the wreckage of New Jerusalem, and that he apparently died not from a creature but from a gunshot fired from close range. His last words to the group have led only to more questions.
