418: Here it Goes

Synopsis

The investigators wait out the night at Dr. Simeon's house before zero hour. Tallahassee recasts his diamond-skin armor with 8 magic points, saving two in case they are pulled into Soyland, and rolls almost all high numbers. The two vials of "soy sauce" are shared out, and on Simeon's suggestion the group pours the sauce into a salad bowl, each drops a bullet in, and Simeon tosses them "like chicken wings." Simeon kisses his wife, Mary, goodbye and tells her he is going out for milk.

Outside the Arkham Sanatorium, Billy makes an impassioned speech. He asks the Major to remember who is behind the killings and to bind their quarry rather than kill him, so that none of them ends up in jail and they can keep taking the fight "all the way to the top": Goddard, the mayor and Goodman Gray. The Major wants to know who "Freddy" is.

Tallahassee finds the ring of keys Little John left in the front desk. The group realizes they do not know where Corbitt is kept, and the ledger places him on the first floor, hallway B, room six. Creeping down the maximum security wing, Billy hears a patrolling guard approaching. Tallahassee frantically flips through the unlabeled keys while Dom picks the lock to exam room one, and the group hides inside until a ranting patient draws the guard away.

On the way to hallway B, Tallahassee drops the keys and the guard returns. Dom shoves Tallahassee aside to pick Corbitt's lock and fumbles, snapping his only pick. Caught in the flashlight beam, Dr. Simeon uses Command of the Wizard and tells the guard to "go home"; the guard turns and leaves to check on his living room light. Tallahassee finally finds the right key, and Corbitt's door creaks open.
