First appeared in: 308: Infestation

A deliberately forgettable man in a gray suit who speaks with an English accent. He leads a rival group operating around New Jerusalem, with men of his own at the old Motley Hill Sanatorium and more back in town. His black Packard appears to be the same car the investigators saw at the cemetery in 305: The Shining... Skin.

In 308: Infestation the investigators find his Packard and a box truck parked outside the sanatorium. Gray steps out to calm a standoff between Tallahassee and one of his men, and already knows the investigators by name. He denies being an associate of Corbitt but calls himself an "interested party" in Corbitt's research. His people believe the creature has dug tunnels beneath the sanatorium and is raising a brood there. After Dom proposes sharing information, Gray agrees to work together to cull the creatures and renegotiate afterward. He dodges questions about his organization and claims to know the mayor only in passing, though Billy suspects he knows the mayor better than he admits. The investigators suspect he wants to capture at least one creature alive. When screams erupt from the basement, Gray hesitates for the first time, then flees in the Packard while his remaining henchman takes the box truck.

In 309: Boom Goes the Dynamite he arrives in the New Jerusalem town square with Constable Zeke Dawkins just as the mayor is about to reveal who he works for. A single word from Gray, "stop," freezes the mayor in place. Gray says that most of his associates died at the Motley Hill Sanatorium and proposes a temporary partnership against the coming horde, mentioning that he has a flamethrower.

In 310: Salem's Lot he cuts off the mayor's confession and denies any knowledge of the lab. He claims that the men in suits found there were agents he had sent weeks earlier who never reported back, and that the sanatorium was his first encounter with the creatures. He and his four remaining men then join the defense of Denny's, where his men hand over their flamethrower.

In 311: Beefing the Defenses Dr. Simeon overhears him at Denny's offering Constable Zeke Dawkins a place in his organization. He says that the mayor has outlived his usefulness now that the creature has been acquired, and asks Dawkins to deal with that loose end before the night is over.

In 312: Edge of Sharkness he waits unarmed and unusually calm as the defenders of Denny's brace for the attack.

In 314: The Siege he kills a creature at a window of Denny's Tavern with a muttered spell, then leads his men up the stairs as the defenses collapse.

In 315: Legends Never Die he recognizes the alpha, drops a creature attacking Tallahassee Turner with a whispered spell and watches in disbelief as Dom Druncard takes control of the alpha.

In 316: The Last Stand he escapes the collapsing tavern alongside the investigators with the last two of his men.

In 401: Static Prevails the Keeper says that he and his group seem to have vanished during the final stand against the creatures at New Jerusalem.

In 405: Be Sensible the Major finds an octopus dog tag on Devin Black, a man posing as Raymond Goddard, and says "You work for Goodman Gray." Devin goes dead white and asks how the Major knows Gray.

In 406: Pain the Major says that Devin Black works for Goodman Gray, and Dom says that killing Devin would not hurt Gray. At Pizza Dragons Dom tells the others that Devin went pale when they mentioned the name, and the Major shows them the octopus dog tag, which the group recognizes from Goodman Gray's crew in New Jerusalem. The Major says that the mayor and Goodman Gray are definitely involved.

In 407: Coffee & Cigarettes a player asks the barista Sheamus O'Malley whether he has ever heard the name Goodman Gray. Sheamus says he has not and that the clean-cut, secretive people who come looking for muscle never give names, though he reacts with alarm to the dog tag symbol, tells the group not to flash it around and calls the people bad news.

In 410: Just Watch the Fireworks Billy says that when they mentioned Goodman Gray's name to Devin Black, "his eyes got real wide."

In 413: Your House a memory comes back to Billy: at the hospital, after Raymond Goddard was killed, Goodman Gray squatted in front of him, pointed in his face and told him, in words that went straight into his mind, to bring him anything of interest immediately.

In 414: Delivery it is revealed that he gave Simeon the same command he gave Billy at the hospital after Raymond Goddard's death: to bring him anything of interest immediately, at the Goddards'. Both men head to the Goddard house to report to him.

In 415: Night Drive Billy and Simeon break free of his spell at the Goddard mansion, where he is expected but has not arrived. He appears in a photograph there with Erastus Goddard and Mayor Sidel in front of Arkham City Hall.

In 420: Clarity he arrives at Simeon's door proposing a new alliance against Bernard Corbitt.

In 601: The Big Easy he sends Major Bakersfield to New Orleans after one of his men spots Corbitt, and pays for the expedition. His agent Saavedra dies on the hotel's fence.

In 603: The Disembodied Artist and 604: The Safe House his people direct the wounded Devin Black to Dr. Isaiah Calhoun's safe house.

In 610: Observatory Devin plans to call him for police contacts. In 612: Russo's Tale Devin says Gray filled him in on the group's earlier misadventures.

Appearances

In 412: My Enemy Dom asks Corbitt about Goodman Gray, and Corbitt says he is not even sure who Goodman Gray is.

In 418: Here it Goes Billy names him as one of the people the group must eventually bring down.
