Mary BethBethBeth

Played by: Alex Morrison

First appeared in: Mister Corbitt

The long-suffering wife of Simeon Kantstandyerbitz, and a resident of the same street as the investigators. She spends most of the campaign in the background, but when her husband is found bleeding on the kitchen floor after drinking a mysterious purple potion, she demands answers, and she is surprisingly enthusiastic once the full story is explained. She later offers to help the investigators, and volunteers to keep the nosy barber next door distracted while they break into Corbitt's house. At the end of Mister Corbitt, Simeon takes her home with a new appreciation for her.

Not to be confused with Mary the Hoebag.

In 401: Static Prevails she appears in Dr. Simeon's nightmare, confused as she watches a spider creature close in on him, and is then asleep beside him in bed when the phone rings.

Notable quotes:

• "I'm not going anywhere until I know what's going on and why it's happening."

In 410: Just Watch the Fireworks she is found asleep in bed, right where Simeon left her that morning, though it is only about seven in the evening. Her breathing is shallow and her face looks sunken. She does not wake for her husband's usual morning greeting, for smelling salts or for his Command of the Wizard, although her eyelids and hair flutter before she sinks back into a deep sleep. The Keeper tells Simeon that his dream was real and that she has been taken to Soyland like the others and has been trapped there all day.
