Fiona Druncard
The wife of Dom Druncard and mother of their son, Sam. Fiona met Dom in London, where she studied literature while he worked in a pub. She never spoke of her family. She and Sam vanished from their London home thirteen years before The Hollows, leaving a strange symbol burned into the sitting-room floor. Percival Warthrop later recognizes it as the mark of the Order of Scorpius and the Devereaux family of witches, and he wonders whether Devereaux was her maiden name. Fiona and Dom called each other by pet names, Ariel and Prospero, taken from their favorite play, Shakespeare's The Tempest. Hannah Baker was her best friend, and the only one of her friends Dom ever met.
In 501: Training Day Dom tells the group about her disappearance and his search for her across England and France, which led him to America.
In 502: The Last Lighthouse Dom wakes on the train to see her watching him through the window of the next car.
In 503: A Mitch Ain't One Garibald John Daly denies ever hearing her name, but Billy's Psychology shows he is lying. When Billy commands him to say where she is, he only laughs.
In 504: Witch Repellant Daly, under Command of the Wizard, claims that Fiona is "in the stars."
In 505: Manifest Secrets Dom finds her name in the 1914 train records: she arrived in Salem on June 21, days before the great fire.
In 506: Baggage Dom finds a letter from her to Hannah in Hannah's unclaimed suitcase. In it she apologizes for vanishing, which she says was the only way to keep "him" and themselves safe. She writes of a place called "the hollow," which she believes is real and her way to be free forever, mentions a book called Proverbia Peregrini, asks Hannah to find Dom and bring a parchment scrap, and gives the Last Lighthouse inn in Salem as her address.
In 507: The Hollow Endless Night the inn's 1914 ledger turns out to hold a long-term check-in under her name.
In 508: The Pilgrim the check-in, dated February 8, 1914, appears only through the black mirror. Dom reads her letters to him, which are full of sorrow and apology. She writes that Sam is growing and starting to look like his father, that she still cares for Dom, and that Sam is still not safe, and she asks Dom to hold on until she feels safe enough to tell him where she is. A journal found inside the briefcase bears the title Proverbs of the Never-Whence Pilgrim in handwriting Dom recognizes.
In 509: The Hollowed Man her notes in the margins of the Proverbs show that she sought the hollow's strength to free Sam from the Order forever, and they also mention Dom. Dom recalls that he came to Salem in 1914 with Hannah, days after Fiona arrived.
In 510: Segway Dom is troubled by the thought that she may have played a part in the great fire.
In 511: The Ritual Room the mirror shows a struggle in the Devereux basement, where Dom's own voice cries "Fiona, look out!" and a familiar woman's voice says "I'm so sorry, Dom." Constance Venus, who resembles her, says that Fiona was the most talented spellcaster the Order had seen in generations, and that she killed Constance's sister, the Order's seer, by opening a gate that dropped her ten stories in Clapham. Constance also claims that Fiona gave up the Order for love and then her love for power, and that she has crossed into the hollow.
In 512: Two Scoops of Danger her handwritten notes on the spell Unbinding of Remembrance show that she considered recasting it around herself, cutting herself out of the memory of everyone who knew her, and she warned that such a spell "would behave like a contagion." The group suspects this explains Dom's hollowed memories and Hannah's condition.
